Using FTP for File Transfer
File Transfer Protocol (FTP) is a method of sending files over
the internet without having to send them as an Email attachment.
The benefits are the speed at which files can be transferred
and that files of any size can be sent via FTP—much
larger than what is commonly allowed as E-mail attachments.
The main part of FTP is the Server, a computer that is online
at all times, ready to send or receive files at the client’s
request. C & C’s FTP server has 2 sections: General
FTP and Secure FTP.

Using the General FTP Area
The following instructions are shown with the FTP client
Fetch 4 for Macintosh. This software is available for trial use
at fetchsoftworks.com.
Windows users can try similar software called WS FTP. A free
trial is available at www.ipswitch.com.
FTP Servers can be accessed by any internet browser, but the
easiest way to upload and download files is to use special FTP
Client Software. There are many clients to choose from, we have
suggested these two based on their reliability.
To log into the C & C FTP server, launch the FTP client.
Enter the Host, User ID and Password.
Host: ftp.candcprinting.com
User ID: ccop
Password: ccop

The general directory will become available, and you are then
able to upload or download files

Uploading Files to the Server
If you are uploading multiple files, please create a
folder or directory on the server to help organize these
files.
Click Put Files… ( for single files )
OR
Remote Put Folders and Files… (
for many files)
Locate the file(s) you wish to upload.

You will have a choice of which format in
which to upload the files. Normally, Raw Data is
suitable. You may wish to compress the file to save space
and shorten the upload time.
Please notify C & C when you have completed your upload
and provide the filename(s) so that they can be located easily.
Using the Secure FTP Area
C & C offers unique FTP accounts with directories that are
password protected and inaccessible by other users of the
service.
Uploading files is similar to that of the General Server, with
the exception that you must provide a unique User ID and Password
to access your space.
If you would like to create an account, please contact
a C & C
representative and they will assist you. |
